HAROLD M. HARTNETT
Harold M. Hartnett, 62, Thompson, PA went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, August 4, 2004.
He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 14, 1941, the son of the late Elizabeth and Harold A. Hartnett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marion; son, Fred; daughter, Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Jenny; grandchildren, Joel and Nina; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Hartnett.
Harold was a graduate of Dickenson High School. He attended MIT in New York City, which he later used in his professional career in construction from 1959, as a member of Metal Lathers Local Union 46, until retirement. Some of Harolds accomplishments include construction of the Twin Towers and other well known New York City landmarks.
Harold was a member of Calvary Bible Church, where he was commander of AWANA, a childrens youth ministry very dear to his heart.
A burial and committal service was held on August 7, at Ararat Cemetery, offered by his Pastor Winston Cannon. A memorial service was held following the burial at the Calvary Bible Church, Jermyn, PA.

DIANE ELLEN GOW
Diane Ellen Gow, 48, Montrose, PA, formerly of Endwell, NY, died at her parents home in Endwell after a short illness. She graduated with honors from Maine Endwell High School at the end of her junior year, and achieved a BA in English Literature from Ithaca College. Diane held many responsible positions, the last 14 years as a staff member of North Central Sight Services of Pennsylvania, screening children and adults in Susquehanna, Bradford and Tioga Counties. She screened children for kindergarten registrations in the school districts of her three counties, and in Head Start and daycare centers. Adults were screened in their place of employment or senior citizen centers and health fairs. Diane had a talent for working with both children and adults.
Diane was an unusually caring and generous person who made friends wherever she went. She had many loyal friends who supported her through her illness. She will be deeply missed by those friends and her family.
Dianes loving family includes her parents, Jim and Jean Gow; her sister, Andrea Gow McGrath Patten and husband, Peter Patten; nephews, David and Robert McGrath, all of Endwell; a very dear first cousin, John Pierce Griffin, Austin, Texas; her uncle, Robert Gow and family, Warren, VT.
Her family wishes to thank the friends who provided comfort and care for Diane, and to Dr. James DellaValle and his nurse, Marcia of the Johnson City Family Care Center, and Lourdes Hospice.
At Dianes request there will be no funeral or calling hours. There will be a Memorial Service at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, Farm to Market Road, Endwell, NY on Saturday, August 28, at 11 a.m. Diane is a member of the Southern Tier Memorial Society and has requested that her body be donated to Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, for medical education and research.

Ellen Elizabeth Haynes Pooler, 81, passed into the arms of the Lord Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital after a long illness.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1997; her parents, William and Nettie Haynes; four brothers; a sister.
She is survived by her children, their spouses and companions; Chuck and companion Lila, daughter Shirley and husband Dan, daughter Beverly and companion Brian, daughter Peggie and husband Larry, son Joe and special son, Clinton; grandchildren, Julie, Teresa, Daniel, Amy, Tina, Kelly and Tara; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; several nieces and nephews.
Ellen was a nurses aide for several years at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, then a private duty nurse. She was a very loving person who enjoyed her flowers, bird watching, dancing, cooking and her family. Ellen also enjoyed singing and yodeling. She will be forever missed, but always remembered with love and affection.
She was a member of the Lanesboro Community Church, Lanesboro, PA.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lanesboro Community Church, Main St., Lanesboro, PA with the Rev. Carl Batzel officiating.

GERTRUDE IRENE LOOMIS SCHAFFER
Gertrude Irene Loomis Schaffer, 82, New Milford, PA, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004. She was born September 15, 1921 in Mount Pleasant, PA (currently known as Pleasant Mount). Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Henry Hudson Schaffer. They were married 44 years. Two grandchildren, Edward Lonzinski and Henry Schaffer II, also predeceased her.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gertrude (Dolly) and Michael Lonzinski, Great Bend, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Pearl Schaffer, Levittown, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Clark Warner, Tunkhannock, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Terje Steinsto, Tonsburg, Norway; a son, Paul Schaffer, New Milford; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Lisa Schaffer, New Milford; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Canfield, New Milford; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Gertrude loved to bake, and work in her vegetable and flower garden. She also enjoyed the daily work of a dairy farm for many years. She had many close friends in her 82 years of life and always enjoyed when someone would stop in for coffee and a chat. She enjoyed having hugs to get her through the day. She will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at South New Milford Baptist Church, Route 848, New Milford, Wednesday, August 11 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Larry Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Gibson Cemetery, Gibson, PA.
The family will receive callers at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
