Gibson Barracks Report

Crash: On January 30th at 5:30 p.m. Sally Moore of Montrose was traveling westbound on Sr 706 at the same time that Mark Fallon of Thompson was traveling eastbound. There was rain and fog at the time. Moore began to turn left onto High School Road and failed to see Fallon's vehicle, striking the left front. Fallon did not have headlights on as required due to weather conditions. Moore was cited for turning without clearance. Fallon was cited for not having headlights on during inclement weather as required. Both were utilizing seat belts; neither sustained injury.

Hit and Run: PSP Gibson is investigating a hit and run pedestrian crash that occurred on Sr 4007 (North Rd) in Forest Lake Township on January 29th at 5:14 p.m., approximately .5 miles west of Valley Road. The offending vehicle was traveling north on Sr 4007 and struck a pedestrian walking in the travel lane. After impact, the vehicle fled the scene, continuing to travel north on that road. Anyone with information is asked to please contact PSP Gibson at (570) 465-3154. The female pedestrian was treated at the scene by Montrose EMS and released at her own request.

Theft: On January 29th at 3:15 p.m. Earl Raub Jr. was traveling on Lower Rhiney Creek Road in Liberty Township when an aluminum plank, approximately 16' in size, fell off his truck. When he turned around to retrieve it an unknown white male driving a red pickup truck picked up the plank and took off. Anyone with information is asked to please contact the police.

Theft: PSP Gibson is investigating an incident in which unknown persons stole the registration plate off of the vehicle of a Hallstead woman, while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence. The registration is JBZ3521. Anyone with information about this incident, or who observes this plate, is asked to please contact PSP Gibson, at (570) 465-3154.

DUI: On January 27th at 6:19 am a Springville woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, after troopers responded to a report of a vehicle partly blocking the roadway in Bridgewater Township, with a female passed out behind the wheel. Charges were to be filed with District Court 34-3-01 for Driving Under the Influence and related traffic offenses.

Hit and Run: On January 27th at 2:30 am an unknown driver was traveling south on Old Schoolhouse Road in Clifford Township when he or she failed to negotiate a right hand curve and lost control. The vehicle exited the roadway from the east berm and struck a tree with the left front corner. The vehicle then spun clockwise in the roadway and traveled approximately 111', coming to rest in the roadway facing in a northerly direction. The driver fled the scene of the crash. The vehicle was found burning in the roadway. It was later discovered that the vehicle was stolen from the Montrose area. Anyone with information is asked to please call the police at (570) 465-3154.

Identity Theft: The identity of a Thompson woman was used to purchase postage stamps between the 10th and 23rd of January. The investigation was continuing as of the time of report.

Crash: On January 28th at 5:23 pm Amanda Kilmer of Meshoppen was traveling west on State Route 3001 in Auburn Township when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree. Kilmer went to Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock for further medical evaluation. Injury of unknown severity was obtained; a seat belt was in use. The vehicle sustained heavy bumper area damage and required towing form Rt. 6 Auto Body. Charges were filed at District Court 34-3-01.

Crash: On January 28th at 11:37 a.m. Xin Ling of Vestal was traveling on Sr 81 in Lenox Township when, while approaching a right hand curve, the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and impacted with a guide rail. It then continued in a north direction, hitting the embankment on the right side of the roadway, before traveling further north and coming to a rest on the right shoulder. The operator stated that he did not receive any injuries as a result of the crash.

Crash: On January 28th at 11:16 am Enrico Danise of Bath, Pa was traveling northbound on I81 in New Milford Township in the left lane and lost control as it turned sideways. The vehicle veered in to the right lane and collided with the left rear of a vehicle driven by Ahmet Beganovic of Bowling Green, Ky. The force of the impact caused Danise's vehicle to then rotate in a clockwise manner back into the right lane. It was subsequently broad sided by a vehicle driven by Mirnes Velic of Bowling Green, Ky. Danise was transported from the scene by Montrose EMS for injuries sustained; safety equipment use was listed as unknown. The other drivers were utilizing seat belts; they sustained no injury. The police were assisted at the scene by Montrose EMS and New Milford Fire Department.

Crash: On January 28th at 9:10 a.m. Alejandro Oranday of Towanda was traveling westbound on Sr 106 in Lenox Township at a time when the roadway was snow covered with a significant weather event involving snow/sleet occurring. Oranday was negotiating a left curve in the roadway when he lost control of his vehicle, which exited the westbound travel lane. The vehicle impacted a large rock as it traveled over an embankment north of the travel lanes. It impacted several trees and began a rolling maneuver towards the driver's side. The vehicle came to a rest win contact with a tree on its drivers side. The driver sustained no injuries; he was utilizing a seat belt. A passenger sustained minor injury and was transported for for treatment; seat belt use was listed as none used/not applicable.

Crash: On January 26th at 12:04 p.m. a one vehicle crash occurred on Sr 106 in Lenox Township, approximately .5 miles east of Valentine Rd. At this time Lorraine Valentine of Uniondale was attempting to navigate a left hand curve in the roadway at an unsafe speed. The vehicle subsequently traveled off the right side of the roadway; impacting a tree. The force of the impact, in conjunction with the angle of impact, caused the vehicle to overturn. The police were assisted at the scene by the Clifford Fire Department. A seat belt was in use; no injuries were sustained.

Crash: On January 27th at 6:40 p.m. Alejandro Lopez of Montclair, Nj was traveling north on Sr 81 when, while in the left lane, his vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and went down the embakment in the median. The vehicle's undercarriage struck the ditch in the median. The vehicle continued in a northerly direction and came to rest on the shoulder of the south bound left lane. Lopez claimed he was uninjured at the scene; he was utilizing a seat belt.

Crash: On January 25th at 10:12 pm Shelley Kilmer of Nicholson was traveling on Sr 2023 in Clifford Township near the intersection with Sr 247 by Panorama Golf Course. The crash occurred as the vehicle was entering the right hand curve. It continued straight and exited the left side of the roadway. It began to slide on the shoulder of the road and rolled over, coming to rest on the driver's side facing a southerly direction. Kilmer was unharmed in the accident and denied EMS. She was to be cited in District Court 34-3-03 as of the time of report. A seat belt was in use; she was not injured.

Crash: On January 21st at 3:45 p.m. Knat Adhikari of Scranton, Pa was traveling on Sr 81 in Lenox Township when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle started sliding and struck the steel guiderail with the front portion of the vehicle. When impact occurred a section of the guiderail, plastic buffer section, was launched and struck a parked vehicle in the Bingham's restaurant's parking lot.

Crash: On January 27th at 1:00 a.m. Dakotah Gettler of New Milford was traveling north on Sr 29 when his vehicle exited the roadway, struck a mailbox, a culvert, and three trees, and came to an uncontrolled rest off the east side of the north bound lane. No fire or ems responded. A seat belt was in use; he was not injured. Route 6 towed the vehicle from the scene.

Crash: On January 21st at 4:10 p.m. a one vehicle crash occurred as Joanna Cumberland of Lords Valley, Pa was traveling north on Sr 81 in Lenox Township. Her vehicle moved from the left to the right lane, when another vehicle in front of her did the same thing. Cumberland applied her brakes and lost control of her vehicle on the slippery roadways. The vehicle struck the side of the concrete bridge barrier. A seat belt was in use; the driver sustained moderate injury.

Commercial Vehicle Crash: On January 23rd at 7:30 a.m. David Weldon of Clifford Township was traveling west on 706 in Bridgewater Township, as were Andrew Gordon of Great Bend and Thena Summers of Hallstead. Weldon was following too closely to Gordon, and struck the rear of his vehicle while Gordon was slowing down due to Summers being stopped in the travel lane, waiting to make a left turn into her place of employment. After initial impact between Weldon and Gordon's vehicles, Gordon's vehicle struck the rear of Summers' vehicle. After impact Summers pulled into the driveway on the left side of the road. The other two vehicles pulled to the berm of Sr 706. Gordon and Summers sustained injury.

Crash: On January 26th at 11:33 a.m. Michele Shehata of Kingsley was traveling north on Sr 11 in New Milford Township when her Dodge Ram 3500 slipped due to slush in the roadway, impacted a section of guard rail, and overturned onto its roof. Shehata was wearing her seat belt a the time of the collision and as a result sustained minor or no injury.

DUI: On January 20th at 2:40 am a Jackson, Pa woman was found stuck in a ditch. It was determined that the accused had been drinking, and she was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI. Charges were pending results of chemical testing as of the time of report.

Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, Criminal Mischief: Between the 14th and 15th of January Ryan Alexander, Joshua Fuller, and Megan Moriarity became involved in an altercation at Maloney's bar in Hallstead. During the incident, damage was caused to the bar furnishings and doors. Further damage was caused to a 2008 Dodge Ram truck when Fuller intentionally rammed into it with his vehicle before fleeing the scene. Alexander is charged with Harassment and Disorderly Conduct. Moriarity is charged with Harassment and Criminal Mischief. Fuller is charged with Recklessly Endangering, Criminal Mischief, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, and two traffic violations. The situation was awaiting future proceedings as of the time of report.

Crash: On January 21st at 6:04 p.m. Lorenzo Velazquez of Scranton was traveling south on Sr 92 when he lsot control of his vehicle, which exited the roadway to its right, struck an embankment, rolled over several times, and landed upright on a 7' stone wall. Velazquez then fled the scene. No fire or EMS responded. Kozlowski towed the vehicle away from the scene.

Commercial Vehicle Crash: On January 21st at 4:14 p.m. Seo Jungryeol of Buffalo, Ny was traveling north on I81 in Lenox township, along with Joseph Barbour III of North Chesterfield, Va and Elizabeth McGrath of Kirkwood. Jungryeol and Barbour were traveling in the left passing lane and McGrath was in the driving lane. Jungryeol's vehicle ran into the rear of Barbour's vehicle, then bounced off to its right, struck McGrath's vehicle in the left front, traveled back to its left, struck a concrete barrier on a bridge, and came to an uncontrolled rest in the left lane. Barbour pulled over to its right approximately 300 yards up the road where it was safe. McGrath pulled off the right side of the northbound lane. Clifford fire an EMS responded to the scene. There were no injuries; all involved were utilizing seat belts. Duchnicks towed Jungryeol's vehicle from the scene.

Theft: PSP Gibson is investigating an incident in which a stove was stolen from the residence of a Friendsville man, located in Liberty Township. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police please.

Commercial Vehicle Crash: On January 24th at 3:00 pm a piece of lumber fell from a Volvo on Sr 0706 in New Milford Township and struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Driver information was not in the report.

Crash: On January 21st at 6:15 p.m. Ashlee Sherman of Clifford was traveling north on Sr 0011 in Lathrop Township when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve in the snow and ice covered roadway. The vehicle then traveled across the north and southbound lanes of Sr0011, exited the roadway, and collided with a telephone pole guide wire, before coming to a final rest. Sherman did not sustain any injury as a result of this crash; a seat belt was in use. The vehicle was removed from the scene by JD Towing.

Crash: On January 21st at 2:26 p.m. Brice Spickerman of Nicholson was traveling south on sr 92 at the same time as Steven Taylor of Clifford was traveling north. Spickerman had an air compressor in the bed of his vehicle, which came loose while going around the corner. The compressor fell out tof the truck on the roadway and into Taylor's vehicle. Taylor lost control of his vehicle, which exited the roadway and hit a tree off the east side of the northbound lane, coming to an uncontrolled rest area. No fire or EMS responded to the scene. Kozlowski towed Taylor's vehicle from the scene. Both men were utilizing seat belts.

Harassment: On January 19th at 7:30 p.m. Timothy Donahue of Windsor, Ny is accused of spitting on a woman's face at the Susquehanna County Jail in Bridgewater township.

Criminal Mischief: On January 19th at approximately 5:00 am Michael Butts of Susquehanna is accused of going to the residence of another Susquehanna man and kicking in the side of the victim's 2004 Chevrolet truck, causing damage. Charges were to be filed at District Court 34-3-02.

Assault-Simple/Terroristic Threats/Weapons: On January 19th at 12:06 am David Truitt of the Nicholson area is accused of causing injury to a female victim while engaged in a dispute, by impacting her head into a wall. During the dispute, the accused brandished a handgun causing terror the victim and others. Truitt was taken into custody and remanded to the Susquehanna County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bail. Charges were pending for violations of PACC as of the time of report.
